Lunch Bag Art
So I’ve got the day off today from work, the house to myself, and boy does it feel good to relax, read, catch up on some things that I’ve been meaning to do, and cook some chicken
yum.
I was browsing google to find a picture of a lunch bag to use for a design, and I came across this image below. There is a tumblr called Lunch Bag Art which has some really awesome artwork on brown bags. The post where this picture came from I found on another individual’s website, cited the tumblr along with some cool pictures a dad had drawn on his kid’s actual lunch bags that they would take to school. Check out both links, and prepare to be amazed.

I’m going to try to catch up on some design work before headed out to the city to “celebrate” Steph’s leaving for the east coast. I put celebrate in quotes because I don’t want her to leave
boo, but I’m happy and excited that she’s got a great gig for the next year with an awesome organization, doing what I would love to do.
Check out the new SHARE YOUR LUNCH link on the right hand side of my blog. A donation of $10 can feed 20 kids lunch. the Lucile Packard Foundation for Children’s Health where I worked at during my Americorps placement has just put out a media advisory that states that
“The number of homeless children enrolled in public schools in California grew by 57 percent between 2004 and 2008, according to new data prepared for the U.S. Department of Education and just added to kidsdata.org. Across the state in 2008, 224,249 homeless children were enrolled in public schools, compared to 142,554 in 2004.”
This also means that when they are out of school during the summer, they aren’t getting the subsidized lunches that they would during the school year. Just thinking about all the people I know whose parents don’t have jobs, or people who come into our office to do studies, who are raising kids on their own, kids don’t deserve to be hungry. Lend a hand if you can, we are fortunate.
