AMC movie coupons & deals

Movies are expensive these days. Yes, some of us remember the days of $2 matinees or when there were student prices everyday, not just Thursdays between certain times.

Ways to save when going to the theatre:

  1. Bring your own drink & small snack (most theatres don’t check bags really anymore or jackets). Even if you get caught, the cost of losing a can of soda versus having to buy one for $4 is definitely worth it. I usually don’t drink anything in the theater since I’d probably have to go pee at some point during the 2.5 hr feature.
  2. Get movie passes from Costco or off of eBay. At Costco, AMC Gold Passes (valid for new releases) are $15.99 for 2 tickets which is $8 each, about $2 less than what you would pay at the box office. They also have Regal (United Artists, Edwards) , Cinemark (century) passes as well. Sometimes on eBay you can get even better deals. If you usually watch movies 2 weeks after they are first released, it’s even cheaper. You can usually find Silver AMC passes for around $7 and the other theaters have their equivalents for around the same price. Make sure you use the lower end passes if you’re going  to movies that have been out for awhile, that’ll save you some big bucks.
  3. Besides passes, I’ve also found some movie “coupons” on eBay that let you get tickets to movies that have been out at least 2 weeks for$7.50 at the box office or you can upgrade and see a new release by adding $1.50 more. These are good if you don’t really want to front the money for the passes. You can get coupons for about $1-2 for 12 coupons which allow you to purchase up to 2 tickets each. Here is a link to an auction (Regal) another one (AMC) if you want to check it out.

If you’re planning on heading out to see a movie on Sunday, use the coupon below and treat yourself to some grub during the movie. Click on the image to get the coupon.
