I should be in bed, but I'm watching the TV series "Airline"

….well ok, I am in bed, but not sleeping. I have to blog this because I’m flying Southwest tomorrow and this TV series is about customer service representatives for Southwest Airlines and the stuff that they have to deal with daily when it comes to customers.

The part that has touched me the most is in Season 1 episode 5 (for those of you who have Netflix, you can stream it) the customer service supervisor Mike, is so gracious and understanding about an old man who has Alzheimer’s and has defecated himself in his wheelchair. Him and his wife are headed back to New Mexico after visiting relatives. Mike has agreed to help the man’s wife change her husband and clean him up so that they can make their flight on time. She keeps apologizing and is tearing up from not only embarrassment but from having taken care of her husband like this for 6 years. Mike explains to her that she does not need to apologize and that he understands because his mother is also very ill and needs assistance and that he is more than happy to help her.

I get pretty upset when I hear customers throwing fits in the airport because it really doesn’t do very much good, and people are usually doing their best and things such as weather delays and such are out of their control. Everyone could really save a few years on their lives if we all cooled down just a little bit. I’ve really only had one flight where the flight crew was really snippy and rude. They were also the oldest flight crew ever…don’t worry, it was Delta.

Hope everything goes smoothly on my morning flight.
